Wire and cable marking

Wire, cable, and component marking – the entire chain from a single data source

Kroko combines marking printers, materials, and Kroko Autoprint software so that wire markers, cable labels, terminal block markers, and rating plates are generated from the same electrical panel data.

Marking is not an individual label, but an identification chain: wire, cable, cable bundle, terminal block, component, and device. When identifiers come from the same panel schematic or bill of materials, they should also be printed from the same data source – without manual work and without typing errors.

Four marking levels, one system

At Kroko, marking needs are divided into four levels: wire marking, cable marking, electrical panel marking, and device marking. Each level has its own materials and readability requirements, but the data source is almost always the same.

In practice, this means that heat shrink sleeves for wires, self-laminating wrap-around labels for pre-installed cables, terminal block strips for electrical panels, and rating plates with QR codes for equipment can all be produced from a single Excel, CSV, or DXF dataset.

Marking methods and compatible devices

The table shows which marking method is supported by which device. The indication “material-specific” means that suitability depends on the selected material and its format – we always verify this on a case-by-case basis.

How marking is generated from data

The purpose of Kroko Autoprint is not just to print a label, but to route data from the source to the right material on the right device.

  1. 1

    1. Data

Excel, CSV, DXF, manual entry, or integration with ERP, WMS, and CAD/CAE design systems. Data can be filtered and merged prior to printing.

  2. 2

    2. Template

Marking templates are built with the Template Editor: variable data, static text, symbols, images, barcodes, and QR codes.

  3. 3

    3. Material and device

Autoprint routes identifiers to the correctly sized material and the appropriate printer – heat shrink tubing, self-laminating labels, wrap-around labels, or label sheets.

  4. 4

    4. Batch printing

Automatic numbering, series, repeats, and cutting. A marking sequence for a hundred wires is a single job, not a hundred manual steps.

Kroko 600EP, Kroko X6, and Autoprint – division of roles

The 600EP and X6 do not compete with each other: they are positioned for different applications, and Autoprint controls both.
